Automatic chain-making machine for the production of FOX-TAIL chains. The machine consists of two stations, one for shearing off and the other for chaining, and it is operated by a coil of laminated metal wire. The first station is where the slots are sheared off for subsequent chaining. The wire passes through an annealing furnace to stretch the material, and is then cut into chunks, bent, and chained to shape the chain itself. The square or rectangular section chain that is thus produced is then limbered outside the machine by means of a spreader with shaped holders.
